Anybody have any advice on making a treebark appearance on a rod? I have seen rods that have been tapered and look like a tree limb. Thanks. Randy.

Randy, try making a spring fuller to suit the different sizes of rod u want to texture but before assembling it, run a few rough lines of weld (mig with the gas turned off) to create a rough bumpy texture on the two contact surfaces. Assemble the spring fuller, take a heat and hammer away. Alternatively apply the lumpy weld texture to the face of an old hack hammer, lay your material in a bottom fuller or suitable grove on your swage block, tae a heat and get into it. either method works well but 1st option is more for a power hammer or if you have an assistant. Why we weren't born with 3 hands ... I'll nevr know. good luck.
