To disclaim, I fully understand the naivete of this query. The situation is thus: I am 25, male, highly intelligent, and without a penny to my name. I met a fellow who took up with a tailor at a renaissance faire on a whim, and he said it was one of the best experiences of his life. A will-work-for-room-and-board sort of affair. This idea appeals to me. I am sounding the internets now to determine how likely a similar scenario is. Even if you personally don't want some inexperienced lout pounding about your shop...perhaps you know someone who does? Information is always appreciated, -Mal |

Go on line, find your local ren faire, and talk to the smith. The often need a "boothie" to help out, and might be willing to teach a bit if you'll work cheap. I hear buying the smith a hard cider in the afternoon doesn't hurt either. |
