Conference Accessibility Statement

The city of Johnstown, PA, specifically the downtown area, is populated with many historic buildings that pre-date modern building codes. Therefore, not all of the Conference activities are fully accessible. As we begin event planning for 2026, we are looking more closely at accessibility issues and look forward to planning a fully accessible event so that all can enjoy.

*Peoples Natural Gas Park: The grounds are fully accessible with ADA-compliant indoor bathrooms and an outside port-a-john. Demonstrations will be held on both concrete and grass surfaces. The Polacek Oil House is the location of the indoor vendor spaces, indoor bathrooms, and the beer station (available after 5 pm). The beer station is located on a mezzanine with a wheelchair lift available.

*Central Park: The park is fully accessible with grass surfaces and multiple sidewalks traversing the area. An ADA-compliant port-a-john will be on site.

CraftWork Studios: The craft classes at CraftWork Studios are for ages 18 and up and are located in a multi-story building without an elevator. (The broom making class, however, is located at Peoples Natural Gas Park and is, therefore, accessible.

State Theater of Johnstown: The theater was built in the 1920s and does not have an elevator yet. The lectures and art auction will be held in the theater, which is not accessible. There is a flight of stairs to climb to get to the auditorium. (Future renovation plans are to make the space fully accessible.)
