ABANA is dedicated to perpetuating the noble art of blacksmithing. A blacksmith is one who shapes and forges iron with hammer and anvil. ABANA encourages and facilitates the training of blacksmiths; disseminates information about sources of material and equipment; exposes the art of blacksmithing to the public; serves as a center of information about blacksmithing for the general public, architects, interior designers, and other interested parties.

Jul 19 9:00 am to Noon Rug Loom 1. German Braided Rug Weaving Class with Sheri Stanaitis
Class size 25. Cost: $50.00 per person.

Cost includes demonstration, written instructions, a 24" X 42" Frame (the German Braid Weaving Loom) and the 23 Warp loops that are needed to string it. Materials required for class include: 10-12 Yards of cotton or cotton-polyester fabric that can be torn into strips; sissors; needle and thread; and pliers.

Class size 10. Cost: $30.00 per person.

Has 2 iron side handles . All materials provided.
Jul 19 1:00 pm-4:00 pm Quilt Patch 1 Quilt Patch 2 3. Quilt Magic Class (No Sewing Required) with Dodie Bomar
Class size 25.
Costs: 6x6 inch size-$25.00 or 12x12 inch size-$35.00 per person.

All materials provided.  A variety of different designs will be available to choose from at time of class.
Jul 19 1:00 pm-4:00 pm Broom 1 Broom 2 4. Cob Web and Hearth Broom Class with Joann Nietfeld
Class size 15. Cost: $40.00 per person.

All materials provided. Wood handles will be furnished for the class. Students please bring a sharp knife and a pair of pliers. Note: Students are welcome to bring their own iron forged handle if they want to use it for their fireplace hearth broom. If they bring their own forged handle it should have a flattened end for attaching the broom corn about the size of a nickle, predrilled with a 1/8" hole in the center of the flattened part. There should not be any sharp edges at the bottom of the handle or in the hole. The handle should be approximately 15" in length for a broom of approximately total length of 27", but length depends on the size of the tool set.

Round iron handle, choice of colors, 4 small wooden feet. All materials provided.

Class size 12. Cost: $25.00 per person.

All materials provided. Cost will include instructions and materials to create 2 to 3 flowers that you can take with you.
Jul 21 9:00 am to Noon Basket 3 8. Basket Class #3- Shoulder Tote with Mary Jo McCarty.
Class size 10. Cost: $35.00 per person

10"x4 ", 9" tall, leather shoulder strap, color, brown. All materials provided.
Jul 21 1:00 pm-4:00 pm TurkeyWing Broom 9. Turkey Wing Broom Class with Joann Nietfeld.
Class size 15. Cost: $30.00 per person

All materials provided. Students please bring a sharp knife and pliers. Note: If students enjoy making a broom at the conference and would like to try their hand at home to make more, I will have kits available for $30.00 that they can take home. Kits will include broom corn, a spinner with twine and a needle.
